Nic Jones back on stage after 28 years.

If you were fortunate enough to be at the Sidmouth Folk Festival this month, August 2010, you would have seen the cream of the 21st century folk scene celebrate the influential legacy of Nic Jones. Guests included Martin Simpson, Pete Coe, Jim Moray, Jackie Oates & Belinda O’Hooley,  Nancy Kerr & James Fagan, Jon Boden and Sam Carter.

Not having sung in public since the car crash some 28 years ago, Nic Jones made a surprise appearance during the programme dedicated to performances of his work, finally taking to the stage himself to perform three songs. It was an emotional event for audience and performers alike and Jones, having been rehearsing for the show at his home in north Devon, has now declared that he is considering performing again. I do hope so.

Meantime, I’m sure you all have a favorite track… here’s mine, Canadee-I-O.
